Oftentimes core work is reduced to focus on the abdominals and glutes with underlying messages around body supremacy rooted in whiteness/thinness. Large amounts of reps with a focus on intensity can exacerbate existing tensions in the body, especially if there’s a history of trauma.
What if instead we could engage core work in a way that is playful, adaptive, and incorporates the range of deep rest, full engagement, and holistic relationship within the body? Braiding together multiple movement modalities, functional anatomy, and guided imagery, Molly will share several entry points for working with our core that will hopefully invite support, possibility, and ease (as opposed to gripping tension in body, heart, and mind). We will work on the floor and in movement across the floor, with both detailed guidance and invitations for intuitive movement. (All bodies welcome. All is an invitation.)
This approach to core work might be especially beneficial for someone who dreads core work, who perhaps feels it in odd places – shoulders, jaw, knees. Additionally, for those who have complicated history with pelvis, stomach, low back, the center of you.
Molly offers this workshop as a lifelong student of embodiment, love, and healing. This offering weaves together her synthesis as student, facilitator, and survivor.
