The Collective

Cleveland Embodiment is owned entirely by its workers. We’re experimenting with systems of collaborative decision making, and we’re playing with the idea that there’s more to the success of our organization than maximizing profit. We’ve given ourselves a little room to build the wellness space of our dreams.

Working in a collaborative space that’s free of bosses and hierarchy has some obvious upsides… We get to vote on our own wages, make our own schedules, and prioritize where our time and attention gets directed. We also get to ask big questions that impact our community. Is tipping a good idea? (it’s not!). Can we offer true pricing flexibility for people in need without going bankrupt? (we can!)

We’re also learning what becomes possible when we think outside of the traditional containers of capitalism. We’ve never felt more incentivized to reach for ways to support and uplift our peers working elsewhere in the wellness world. We’re actively building a peer-support community, designing a local referral directory, and consulting with other bodyworkers on alternative pricing models.
